It All Started With A Big Bang!
One of our favorite things to do as a family is watch "Big Bang Theory" together. Both parents and Rachel find it funny, though we may laugh at different parts and have different characters as our favorites.
The Barenaked Ladies sing the theme song and at pretty much a breakneck pace. They start slow with the words "Our whole universe was in a hot dense state....."
Last night, the three of us were walking back to the car after enjoying dinner supplied by an array of food trucks. Rachel, 10-years-old, starts singing the lyrics out loud and suddenly my head whips around.
"What did you just sing?" I inquire.
She repeats the lyrics. But instead of "Our whole universe was in a hot dense state...", Rachel was singing, "Our whole universe was in a G-d d-m state."
My voice rose a bit. "Sweetheart, those are NOT the words!"
My wife asks what Rachel sang and when I tell her, she too tells Rachel she was not quite singing the correct lyrics.
By the time we get in the car, poor Rachel is crying. As my horror began to turn to amusement, Rebecca explains to Rachel that she was basically telling G-d to go to Hell.
A weeping Rachel, now horrified, is saying, "Oh no, I would never say that!"
We provided the correct lyrics and explained what dense means.
All is now better, but it gave us one Big Bang of a laugh.
